After a fall semester which saw a lot of Ram wins on the field of play and in the classroom, the University of Mobile Athletic Department is ready for a great spring semester.
University of Mobile claimed the 2019 Southern States Athletic Conference Competitive Cheer Championship in January, giving the Rams two titles in the last three seasons. Thirteen student-athletes earned All-Conference honors, and coach Kami Whiteis was named SSAC Competitive Cheer Coach of the Year.
Baseball enters the season ranking 3rd in the SSAC preseason poll. Nine returning seniors form the core of the team as Head Coach Mike Jacobs returns for his 30th season at the helm.
Softball is ready for the season as they begin play ranked 1st in conference and 8th in the NAIA. Head Coach Alison Sellers-Cook is returning 17 players from 2018, which saw the Rams eliminated in the national championship round after a tremendous season and top national ranking.
Men’s and Women’s golf teed off their spring seasons in February. TJ Jackson returns for his 4th year in charge of the program and, with an arsenal of returning players as well as a few promising new faces, will look to contend for conference titles. Seniors John Taylor Evans and Wade Duke will be leading the way on the men’s side as the women’s squad will be relying on new recruits and returning underclassmen.
After a successful 2018 campaign that saw them go undefeated in conference, Men’s Tennis enters 2019 with a top ranking in the SSAC Coaches’ Poll. Head Coach Uwe Tittl has advised UM students that they do not want to miss the home matches, as they can expect exciting play. Women’s Tennis is co-ranked 3rd alongside Loyola in the SSAC Preseason Coaches Poll and 21st in the NAIA Preseason Poll. They hope to repeat last year’s excellent performance in conference play.
